Rev. Al Sharpton Works on 'Al in the Family' Show : CBS Sitcom Pilot
Rev. Sharpton recently told the Daily News (in December 3, 2005 Saturday's edition) that he is working with CBS on a pilot, tentatively named, "Al in the Family."
"It is about conflicting social and political views," Rev. Sharpton said. "There'll also be a social message."
Rev. Al Sharpton has been a Democrat, and a long time civil rights activist. He certinly has an unique resume. For example, as you may recall during the last election, he had rightfully pointed out the fact that no other presidential candidate has been to the jail as many times as he has in pursuit of his cause. Now looks like he is well on his way to further beefing up his resume by adding "TV sitcom star" to it sometime during 2006.
Rev. Sharpton will be playing himself in the sitcom. No surprise there! He says he is not sure if he is a good actor or not, but he then hastens to add "I have been apparently practicing for that for 51 years."
Why do we get a feeling this is all part of his work-up to the 2008 presidential election? In any case, considering his colorful personality, and his sense of humor, it would certainly be an entertaining show.
